Baby News!

My 2ND cousin Katie has finally had her baby!! Jayden was born Dec 13, at 10:15 pm by cesarean...he was over 9Lbs. poor Katie!, she's just a tiny little thing. This baby is very special to all of our family, Katie's mom Judy, my cousin, died of a brain aneurysm at the age of 42....Katie was just 16 yrs old at the time.....Judy would be very proud of Katie.

Baby it's Cold Outside!!!

What do you do after the blizzard ends & the temperature falls to minus 35 degrees?....you bundle yourself & your dogs up, & go for a walk, right?....well.....it sounded like a good idea. At first I was only going to take Tate, Kort had never worn boots before & I didn't feel like breaking him in today, but as soon as Tate & I stepped outside, Kort starts to bark bloody murder, & because Brad was still sleeping, the bugger got his own way & I went back in. Getting the boots on Kort was difficult as he kept trying to eat them, now I'm baking hot as I am fully dressed for the conditions...so we go outside to finish, but now my fingers are frozen solid & I'm not happy. Off we go with Kort just beside himself with excitement at all the snow, jumping & leaping with delight, & making his boots come off, ah yeah, 3 times..... now my fingers are screaming with pain from being exposed over & over, & I'm getting crabbier by the minute, also, no one has bothered to go out & shovel their sidewalks. I am trudging in knee deep snow with 2 dogs....I finally get to an area I can let Tate loose & off he goes running, only to loose a boot in the knee deep snow. Then the wind decides to kick up & blow the snow around making it harder to find his stupid boot! I just want to go home & get back in bed. I did find Tate's boot though! When I finally arrived home I was in better spirits so I grabbed the camera & took a few pictures of my darlings!....I think tommorrow I will go to the inside Dog Park at work!!

Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

A week ago I bought Kort a new bed for the livingroom, but he wouldn't lay on it, he'd lay beside it. I thought maybe it was too puffy for him so I put it in the bedroom & put his West Paw bed back in the livingroom. At night he likes to sleep beside the bed but he has been using his new bed as a pillow, not a bed!

This morning he finally realized it is indeed a bed even though it is really puffy! Doesn't he look comfy!

Tate Update

I realized today that I have forgotten how much of an improvement Tate has had in the last 2 months. Tate was diagnosed with arthritis in his elbows & wrists...this year was very hard for him, & he continually got slower & slower in his movements. He used to love to play agility & run like the wind, a favourite game was chasing his ball. He spent most of this year in pain & I couldn't even take him on his full walks. He got slower & slower until he was walking behind me on the way home. I finally resorted to getting him some pain medication. All of this changed when I decided to take him to the Edmonton Holistic Veterinary clinic at the end of Sept. You may remember me posting about it then. When there he saw Dr Veronica Devall, she did acu-puncture & chiropractic work on him where he needed adjustments. She also send me home with some Chinese herbs that have big long names!!, they were to help his body overall. Anyway, it's like I have a different dog now, the changes happened so slowly that I didn't even realize that they were taking place, that is until I looked again at the pictures Wendy took of him when we went to Writing On Stone....Tate is totally off pain medication , he has been since Sept. He runs, & jumps & chases his ball. We can walk for an hour again & he doesn't lag. Wendy will remember how hard it was on him earlier this year when we went to that Provincial Park. When we went to Writing On Stone, we walked way further & he didn't even slow down. Whatever Dr. Devall did for Tate worked. She now has a practise in Calgary so we will be going to see her again next year....I can hardly wait.
