Joanne
On Friday April 15, my sister Joanne passed away with Debra and I by her side. She fought hard these past 5 years and her fight was finally over. I am still in Thunder Bay and her Celebration of Life will be this Thursday April 21. Last night we had a family dinner over at my niece Sherri's house, at the dinner we were presented with gifts that Joanne had arranged to be given to us after her passing. They are beautiful lockets with the inscription " Love You, Always & Forever" Even in death my sisters kind heart continues to show. What an amazing person she was and the world is a sadder place because she is no longer in it.

Day 4
4 days into my wheat free lifestyle and I am doing well. No cravings and actually not as hungry as I was while eating wheat. So yeah for me !
Yesterday I found out that Joanne is looking at only about 2 more weeks. I have booked my flight home for April 22, if I have to change it to earlier then I will. I am still not dealing with it, meaning I have chosen not to think about it at all, I'm afraid what might happen if I do. I have dog sitters in place for the boys so that is a lot of stress off my mind. I am so happy I went home in February as I was able to have quality time with Joanne. She was hospitalized shortly after I left actually.

Day 2
Day 2 today on my wheat free life.
I did well yesterday and wasn't even hungry, this morning Brad made me scrambled eggs, tomatoes and cucumber then I had a banana after. I do enjoy eating this way as I am not hungry, if I am, I fill up on a handful of mixed nuts and the cravings go away. The nuts have to be raw, no salt or honey or any of the other coatings they put on them now. I wish I was a month into it! not just 2 days, I have no patience for things to start working but I know once I'm a month in nothing will stop me from continuing.
This picture is of Dianne and I from this past weekend. We went to Eastside Marios where I could get my last pasta fix before starting my life change :)

Goodbye Wheat
Yesterday was Day 1 on my road to a wheat free life style. I first tried this in 2013 and within 1 month I had lost a bunch of inches off my waist and entire middle section. I did not stay on this way of eating however and have gained back any inches I lost and then some.
I mentioned in an earlier post that I am at the heaviest weight I have ever been. Eating wheat free is difficult for me, I love breads and pastas, sandwiches and rice. This will be a real challenge for me but I am determined to give it a good try this time around and hopefully will be able to stick with it. I don't do well putting pressure on myself, so I am going to give myself one month to see if it makes any difference. This picture is not the best one of me, I wish my eyes were open, but it was taken 4 days ago so it will give me a good starting point picture to compare with on May 5th. I will post weekly pictures if I can so you can join me on my journey to a healthier way of living.
Yesterday I went and got some groceries , it was good that we were out of all breads and pastries so I don't have to look at them and crave them. Instead of candies for snacks I have nuts and cheese. Fruit is to be eaten in limited amounts due to the natural sugar content they hold. I have a recipe book from when I tried this before so I guess I need to dust that off as well.
Anyway, wish me luck on my difficult journey to a healthy weight and feeling comfortable in my own skin again.

Red Deer Dog Show
The Dog Show weekend has come to end, now all the unloading , unpacking and laundry start, ugh. Slowly getting things done.
Ash won the point on the last day, the other two days he was reserve. He needs to learn how to move his front end so he covers ground more efficiently, right now he moves so fast in the front he looks like a hackney horse. He is up to 7 points however so that is good, 3 more to go.
Lync had a great weekend, the first day I showed him to a Select dog for 2 points, the next two days Pat showed him and he got another Select and a Best of Opposite for 4 more points, he looked and showed fantastic, I was very pleased with him. He now has 14 points toward his Grand Championship!
