The Flatcoated Retriever National begins this Wednesday!! It will be held in Edmonton AB in conjunction with the Edmonton Kennel Club Dog Show. We have an amazing entry of 114 Flatcoats from all over Canada and a few from the States! Lync's class has 47 Champions in it ! I have been doing grooming on Lync the last 3 weeks in a row. He has been bathed every week with his last bath tomorrow as I leave Wednesday morning. Wednesday evening will have the Juvenile as well as the Veterans Sweepstakes. Thursday and Friday will have the male and female class dogs being shown and Saturday will be the day Lync goes in . He is also entered in the Edmonton all breed show Thursday and Friday.
I am super lucky that I am able to stay with my sister who lives in Sherwood Park, it will be good for Lync to have a yard to chill in after a day of showing . It will be good for me too!
This is really exciting as the bid was put in to host the show 2 years ago. I agreed to be on the organising committee helping with the merchandise orders. We have almost 100 orders!
Lync looks really good right now, he is almost 5 years old! The last National I went to was in Kamloops BC, it took me 14 hours of driving to get there. Lync was just a few days over 1 year and competed in the 12-18 month class where he took a 4th place. We also went in the hunt test where Lync qualified twice to receive his WC title . It was fun meeting all the Flatcoat people and I was made to feel very welcome. I am looking forward to hopefully meeting more people that I am Facebook friends with including the owners of Lync's daughter Luna.
The next time I post the National will be over for another year, next year it's in Calgary! Fingers crossed I can go again .
