Tater Tuesday :)

In 2007 Tate got his Tracking title, few things have been more important, or meant so much to me. Tracking is not for the faint of heart, you must be dedicated in so many ways. You have to track in all weather conditions, & all temperatures, you have to wake up at the crack of dawn, or track into the dark, depending on the time of year & the conditions. You have to be a cheerleader & a motivator for your dog, your dog has to love to track or he just won't. There is nothing you can do if your dog won't track.
Here are some pictures of mine & Tate's journey to our TD. We had entered the year before & failed, he got whistled off on the 2nd leg, few things in my life have been so disappointing :(
It just wasn't our time......

Snow......

Pouring Rain....

Spring......

Summer......

Fall......

Winter, it was -30 this day.......

This is the very start, the rest of the caravan has arrived & I am heading toward the start flag, I was sooooo nervous! .......

Approaching the 30 meter direction flag, after this we are on our own :).......
You can see the famous Sleeping Giant in the background, he rests on Lake Superior......

The first leg of the track, Marie Babin the judge, & Julie the tracklayer, follow along behind .......

Tate & I on the 3rd leg of our track, these next 2 pictures were taken by the judge, Marie Babin, then later sent to us, how nice was that !!! .........

Tate & I at the glove, I was crying :) ......

Tate was very excited to have found his glove ! ......

Posing with the tracklayer ......

This is an aerial view of our track, it was 400 meters long with 4 turns.....

Tate & his friend Dawson who got his TDX this day :) ......

Wow! Quite a journey to get that title!! Love the pic of Tate announcing to the world that he found the glove and got his TD!! What did he get whistled off for the 1st time?

Julia, yes we must get together!

Dianne, he got whistled off on his second leg for veering too far off the leg, it was downhill & he was actually heading back for the leg when the whistle went, Donna & others who were watching thought he had been whistled off too soon & the judge should have waited to see if he could get back on the leg, however it was a day of all failures for the previous entries & he probably thought Tate was going to fail as well :( It was heartbreaking!

I was crying too!!! Oh, I still am!! I am with you on the whole tracking thing and getting that title for me was my first big "dog show moment". It was a long journey for me and I also failed my first test with Kiita, but the second time when she passed it was such a big event in my life! I love all the photos of Tate in all kinds of weather and I have to say you've tracked in a few more intense situations than I have. You both look fantastic! I wish you could come down here and track with us!! There is nothing like it, to have a dog do something like that and to have the motivation. Thank you for sharing all those photos!!!

Awesome! I thought about tracking with my dogs (I've probably thought about just about every sport out there, in fact...), but never had the motivation to really commit to it. Congrats on that title, and for staying dedicated to the work for so long.
