Today my thoughts will be with my good friend Donna as she assists her beloved collie Shaman on his journey to the Rainbow Bridge.
Shaman has been fighting hemangiosarcoma since June of 2007....no one thought he would be able to fight for so long, but that is Shaman, a dog of great will & spirit.
Hope you're not sick of my Edmonton visit pictures yet because here's some more !!!! These are just some random shots that my sister Debra took from my time there.....they are some of my very favourites!!.....
I just snapped these adorable pictures of my boys sleeping.......& in case you are wondering, yes, they are spoiled!! I do not care either, we have our dogs for a few short years & I believe they should be happy, happy, happy!!!! Tate is sound asleep on my bed, & I found Kort sound asleep in the new crate that I just bought yesterday. I decided to buy a smaller crate for short events such as a day match, the crates I have now are Great Dane size!!!.....I love this crate as it has a side door, a front door & a "sun roof"......thanks Kim for picking it up for me!!....as you can see, it is a big hit with Kort! I'm glad I decided to leave it set up in the living room.
Not only did I get to meet Dianne & Duffy the weekend of the show, but I met Jackie who drove up from Cold Lake AB. to see the show & meet the collies!! We all had a great time talking about the breed that we love.....Jackie is going to be a collie owner herself very soon! She sent me these pictures & I just love them...they show all the before grooming, the outside the ring pictures, Dave fussing over Kort before we went in !!..& in the ring.....thanks Jackie!!!......
We had a freak spring snow storm yesterday. My friends here in Lethbridge would tell you it is all my fault....there is a possibility that they are right!! Apparently they haven't seen this much snow in the last 10 yrs. It all started 2 yrs ago when I moved here! I took these 2 videos this morning....one of the dogs who love the snow & one of my van so Diana could see what I had to sweep off before going to work today. Oh, the van was also frozen solid with ice too Diana, as it had rained before it snowed!
After the show on Sunday we headed out to Dianne house so Dave could see & groom Duffy....it was tons of fun waiting to see what was under all that hair!.....guess what....there was a pretty handsome dog under there !!
Duffy on the table with Dave......This is what we found under the hair!!, another champion perhaps?!......
And, this is what Duffy thought about all this foo foo show stuff!...... It was so much fun sitting outside with 3 collies romping around! Collies are the best!
Dianne, Duffy's mom, sent me these pictures this am. I was so happy to have them while I wait for the ones that Debra took...she managed to get Kort in the ring with Dave.
Dave & Kort waiting to go in the ring......Dave & Kort in the ring......
Sorry , it's late, I'm tired, & I didn't get all the show pictures that my sister took. She couldn't get her computer to work to burn the CD, so I will have to wait to show you the really nice pictures of Kort......here are a couple that I took on Sun. when his breeder groomed him up & showed him for me.....if you're wondering what Dave is doing to his head in the video, he is just "touching up " his mask to make it a bit darker......
Well, I'm heading for home shortly......stay tuned tonight, if I have enough energy!!, for pictures & info on the show. By the way, we didn't win!, oh well!!
I should be packing!!, however, I just couldn't resist taking a couple of pictures of Kort. He had his show bath tonight & I can't believe how much he has changed in just one month. He looks stunning!! He has this mature look all of a sudden, now if his brain could just catch up to his looks!! I managed 2 head shots but then he just had to go to bed...poor guy, today was his first day back at daycare after a 2 week absence to heal his nose. This afternoon Amanda noticed this lovely bald spot under his right eye!!! It's not a bite mark, just a "not so common" occurrence that happens sometimes in dog play....just my luck! Oh well, he has character anyway!
I finally got the print that I bought framed!!! It turned out gorgeous!! I am thrilled....The print is a limited edition, #756 out of 900, & the artist is Cindy Yearly.
The 3 collies are Ch. Tartanside The Gladiator, he the sable.....Ch. Starr's Blue Jeans, she's the blue.....& Ch. Black Hawk of Kasan, the smooth. Both Gladiator & Blue Jeans can be found in Tate & Kort's pedigree's several times.....
Today Tate turned 7!!! He had a great day & was very spoiled, including getting a brand new therapeutic bed for his crate in the van!! Amanda & I got together & Amanda took some pictures for me of the birthday boy which I love!!
I just read on the Collie Club of America web site that Tate's mom Sugar won her Veterans class today at the Collie Club of America's National specialty!! Hurray for Sugar! She was competing in the 11 & older class & won over 7 other females.....she now gets to compete for Best of Variety in the next couple of days.
Here are the only pictures I have of her!! They were in 2002. The one with her & the puppies is of Tate's litter & he is the black guy smack in the middle. Peg will probably kill me for putting the other one in as she hadn't been groomed, but she did just have Tate's litter 2 months earlier!.
